The SMSTS Site Management 2 Day Refresher training is a crucial course for site managers to update their health and safety knowledge. It is designed for safety-critical industries and is a recognised award from CITB, valid for 5 years. Who Should Attend?

Construction site managers and senior site supervisors or anyone who currently holds a valid and in date Site Management Safety Training Scheme SMSTS certificate. The certificate has to be renewed every five years by attending this SMSTS Refresher course. Please note that expired certs and grace periods for expired certificate renewals are no longer able to join this course.

Joining Instructions

The necessary suitable hardware to undertake the course i.e. a PC or Laptop and that it can run Microsoft Teams through either a web browser or the Teams App (the recommended option). The use of a tablet or mobile phone is not generally possible due to the examination process and hence their use is not supported by Goldcross. b. A fully functional webcam and microphone c. Direct access to a reliable network by which they can access the course - Delegates are recommended to utilise their work or home networks, public networks can be unreliable and suffer from sporadic outages. The use of ‘mobile data’ dongles is also not recommended due to varying transmission rates.

Health and safety law, including the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act and Construction Design and Management Regulations. Policies, risk assessments, and method statements. Induction, training, communication, and leadership for effective worker engagement. Inspection, audit, and statutory forms, notices, and registers. Accident prevention, control, reporting, and investigation.

Management of health and welfare facilities, including stress and mental health at work, drugs and alcohol, and control of substances hazardous to health. Specific topics such as lead, asbestos, dust and fumes, noise, vibration, and manual handling.

Site organisation, including fire prevention and control, dangerous substances, electrical safety, temporary works, and plant and work equipment. Mobile plant and vehicles, lifting operations and equipment, and safety for mobile workforce and drivers.

Work at Height Regulations, covering safe working at height, common access equipment, scaffolding, fall arrest and suspension equipment, excavations, underground and overhead services, and confined spaces. Course duration 2 days..

Accreditation

Successful candidates of the SMSTS Site Management 2 Day Refresher training course will receive a ConstructionSkills Site Safety Plus certificate. This certificate is highly recognized in the construction industry and is a requirement for many job positions.

The SMSTS certificate is valid for five years, after which it must be renewed by attending the SMSTS Refresher course. The course includes a compulsory examination paper consisting of 25 questions selected by the CITB. A pass is achieved by scoring over 80 on the exam.
